ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Each year, when you donate to Vaughan PTA you help us provide educational programs and fun family events that benefit the students of Vaughan Elementary!
Destination Imagination
Destination Imagination is a project-based learning program that blends STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education with arts. Throughout the program, students use critical & creative thinking, team building, problem solving, risk taking, and project management skills to build their self-confidence. To learn more about how you and your child can get involved, please attend the Parent Info meeting on Monday, September 10.
Spelling Bee
At the Vaughan Spelling Bee, students compete against classmates by spelling words. This program encourages public speaking, increases vocabularies, and improves students’ spelling. The winner of the fifth-sixth grade Spelling Bee will advance to the local spelling bee. Check out spellingbee.com for more information.
Family STEAM Night
Family STEAM Night will be Tuesday, November 27. This event will have a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activities for families to engage in as well as the Perot Truck. Please look for more details.
Geography Bee
The National Geographic GeoBee is an annual competition designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. Students in grades four through eight (4-8) from nearly 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion.
